This is kind of a personal opinion post, to be honest. I see a post go around the fitspo community every so often that says “don’t reward yourself with food: you are not a dog.” While I totally understand the meaning behind the post, I actually believe that you can choose whichever way you please to give yourself a pat on the back. No, I don’t think it’s particularly useful to weight loss to eat a platter of peanut butter cookies every time you have a great workout, but that’s not what I’m saying.
I think we need to try to eliminate the growing food-fear. If you had a kick-ass workout, why not reward yourself by trying out that awesome new recipe you learned? You need food. Food isn’t the enemy, negative thoughts are.
Again, I totally understand the meaning behind the original post, and I don’t think it was meant to be malicious. Something about it just makes me feel a little uneasy, I suppose.

You’re not the only one. I HATE this saying, stop with the bad messages and shaming on enjoying food.
